MAKE YOUR OWN BLAZER IN ONE WEEKEND - Sat 14 & Sun 15 November

By now you would have seen our brand spanking new pattern, The Blazer. We’ve had the most amazing feedback so far as well as lots of requests for an online tutorial.

Well, we’ve decided to go one step further and launch a dedicated weekend workshop.

During one weekend you’ll create your own blazer under the guidance of our founder and designer, Lisa Falconer. And, before you question how you’ll make a blazer in one weekend, let us tell you that the difference with our workshop is our range of sample toiles you’ll get to try on to find your perfect size and fit. This means you won’t waste time making the wrong size because we’ll be able to spot some minor pattern tweaks before you start cutting! Not only will you walk away with a completely wearable blazer you’ll also enjoy a whole weekend of learning amazing new skills.

There is a maximum of 4 students in this workshop so you'll enjoy lots of time to make the blazer in an unrushed and easy pace.

This workshop includes your own printed copy of The Blazer sewing pattern.

What you'll learn:
Believing strongly in the importance of preparation, Lisa will teach you sewing skills that can use in all your future sewing projects, such as:

  • how to make adjustments to the pattern to fit your measurements
  • how to lay a pattern correctly
  • a great pinning method
  • applying interfacing including the garment industry’s method of ‘block fusing’
  • the importance of cutting correctly and cutting skills
  • seam allowances and how to use your sewing machine for accuracy
  • creating beautiful darts
  • perfect set-in panelled sleeves
  • constructing and sewing a blazer collar
  • creating a fully lined garment

Lisa will teach you how to fully cut and construct The Blazer showing you lots of tips and skills that you can easily use in all your sewing projects.

This workshop has been spread over two days to maximise the amount of invaluable sewing experience and skills that you can learn, and to ensure that you can really enjoy putting this garment together without feeling pressured.

Schedule:
DAY 1:
We’ll spend the first day assessing the toiles and cutting out our patterns.  You’ll also learn how to prepare your fabric and sewing machines as well as familiarising yourself with the steps in the instruction booklet. We’ll finish the day by starting the garment and completing the first few steps of making The Blazer.

DAY 2:
We continue our sewing and complete the garment. During the day, Lisa will demonstrate different steps of making The Blazer so that you fully understand how to sew each step and can take notes for future reference.
