Let’s sew together! Social Sewing Saturdays are an opportunity to bring your projects and sew along with like-minded crafters.
Unlike a class or workshop, this is the perfect chance to work on a project of your choice and sew in a relaxed, social setting in the company of others. There will be sewing chat, tea, and of course, cake! Our sewing patterns, haberdashery and small range of fabric will be available to purchase and you can chat with our founder, Lisa about the other fun workshops we have.
What’s included?
With a maximum of 6 people, this will be a relaxed and joyful way to spend your Saturday.
Important. Please note this is not a class and there is no tuition included. Please bring a project that you are able to work on on your own. This is an opportunity to enjoy the social aspect of sewing amongst a group of likeminded sewists. If cutting out your project is likely to take a lot of time, you may want to cut it beforehand so you can just have a wonderful Saturday of sewing! Lisa will be at the studio but will be enjoying the rare opportunity to sew amongst everyone too. You are welcome to ask questions amongst the group if you are stuck and we are sure everyone would be willing to help each other.
Time
The studio will be open from 10am - 5pm

How does it work?
To enable us to order your chosen fabric and package up your beautiful subscription box, we follow this schedule:
Sign up window: by the 12th
Subscribe by 10pm on the 12th of the month that a subscription is released to receive that month’s box. Any sign-ups after the 13th will receive the following box.
Choose your fabric: 14th
On the 14th of the month we’ll send you the fabric options. We will choose fabrics that will perfectly complement the pattern included, and you can select your favourite. If you have no preference and prefer a surprise, we’re happy to choose for you! You'll get to choose your fabric or pause your subscription if you aren't feeling that month's kit (we're hoping to provide such beautiful fabric that this won't happen).
Payments:

After your first payment, you'll be able to pause your subscription before the next payment comes off giving you total control of your subscription.
Sit back and relax
You can relax while we get to work! As we only order the fabric and haberdashery once we have received all fabric choices, there is a time period to wait for everything to arrive before we can start packing. We will aim to send your box the minute they are ready but no later than the 2nd week of the following month. We send our boxes on a tracked service.
Can I pause my subscription after seeing the pattern or fabric choices?
Yes, we will email you details of the next edit to let you know the pattern included and the fabric choices. We will let you know the window of time, normally a couple of days, to let us know your choice of fabric, or if you would like to pause. If you do pause, please note you won’t receive anything that will be included i.e. the gift/any extras we’re including. Your subscription will then automatically renew for the next edition.
Can I cancel or pause?
Absolutely. We understand times change, so if you need to take a break, just email us at hello@theavidseamstress.co.uk and we can pause your subscription. If you prefer to cancel, please email to let us know and we will remove you from the subscription mailing list.
What if I already have the pattern?
If you already have the pattern included in the next kit, gift it to a friend or let us know and we either replace it for another pattern or refund part of the kit cost.
Can someone buy it as a gift?
Yes! This makes the perfect gift or we have an option for a 2 kit subscription in our GIFT Subscription Service in case longer-term is too much of a commitment. We’ll make sure no billing details are included in the box, and you can include a gift note, too.
If you have any questions about our subscription services, please contact us
Where do we ship to?
Please note that for customers outside the UK, occasionally we are able to obtain a cheaper shipping cost and will always refund the difference. It depends on courier that is selected on the shipping date.

Flattering princess seams feature a clever in-seam pocket, while the modern drop sleeves make for a relaxed yet stylish look.
The Coat sewing pattern is incredibly versatile, working well in a range of fabrics from mid-to-heavy weight coating material to lighter woven fabrics – great for an alternative spring trench-coat.
The three quarter length hem is perfect over dresses or trousers, offering both elegance and warmth on a chilly day.
Other features include a notched collar, 2 button front closure, kick pleat and buggy lining (fully faced).
