Hello! We're The Avid Seamstress, a London-based sewing pattern company dedicated to helping modern makers enjoy the art of sewing.

With a dedication to producing quality products with easy to follow instructions, we strive to bring together a community of makers to employer and inspire each other through sewing.


We’re looking for a junior marketing assistant to work with us on a freelance basis to engage our audience, look for new and exciting ways to promote and grow our brand. You’ll have brilliant ideas to propel our business forward and find creating exciting marketing campaigns easy. 

This is an exciting time for The Avid Seamstress and we are looking for someone that wants to be part of our journey. We’ve just moved into a new studio, released a new pattern release plus we’ll be launching online workshops plus workshops in our studio.

You’ll have authentic, fresh ideas and whipping up an idea for a social media post or competition idea is something that comes naturally to you. Someone that can provide inspiration and ideas for how we can work with bloggers, host great events and run fun workshops. You’ll know what’s going on in the industry and ensure we are in the spotlight.

We need someone very organised, who loves a planner and who can work to deadlines. We know we may not be number 1 in your life but we do want someone that loves our brand and finds happiness in seeing it succeed.  Things will ramp up when we have a new pattern release and we’d love someone that can flex around our busy times.


A chance to really make an impact with our brand and let your creative juices flow. There is an opportunity to increase the hours and get more involved with the brand.

We have a gorgeous studio in Enfield and would love to do some of our planning meetings face to face but otherwise we’ll video chat to plan the marketing calendar and then we’ll do the rest by email.  Fluent English is critical.


  • Work with our founder to plan the marketing calendar in advance.
  • Devise communications and promotions to deepen audience engagement and increase sales.
  • Write copy for the website, emails, social media, marketing materials and press.
  • Prepare social media content.
  • Draft press releases.
  • Mailchimp
    • engage our audience,
    • set up segmentation,
    • set up funnels
    • write copy for campaigns,
    • monitor performance in google tracking and provide reporting and retention ideas.
  • Analyse Google analytics and create a monthly report.
  • Research and write copy for blog articles.
  • Proof read instruction manuals / copy when required.


  • Experience in sales, marketing and social media.
  • A passion for engaging audiences and communicating with customers effectively, including online and through social media.
  • Good writing skills, with fluent English, an attention to detail and the ability to tailor communication for different audiences.
  • A passion for craft and creativity.
  • Very organised.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mailchimp including funnels, marketing journeys and segmentation
  • Facebook marketing
  • Instagram marketing
  • You need to be set up as a freelancer, keep track of your hours worked and invoice us monthly
