Personalised sewing tuition, tailored entirely to you.
Whether you're taking your very first stitches, feeling stuck on a sewing project or looking to build your confidence, our one-to-one sewing lessons are designed around exactly what you need.
Sometimes all it takes is having an experienced sewist by your side to answer your questions, explain a technique or guide you through the next step. During your private lesson, you'll have dedicated time to focus on your own goals, learning at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Before your lesson, we'll chat about what you'd like to achieve, allowing us to tailor your session to your experience, interests and sewing ambitions.

Sew with Janome
We're delighted to partner with Janome, one of the world's leading sewing machine manufacturers, for our studio workshops.
Our studio is fully equipped with Janome 230DC sewing machines and Janome MyLock 454D overlockers, allowing every maker to learn and sew on high-quality machines throughout the workshop.
Whether you're completely new to sewing or looking to build your confidence, using the same machines means demonstrations are easy to follow and you'll spend more time sewing and less time troubleshooting.
Bringing Your Sewing Machine
You're very welcome to bring your own sewing machine or overlocker so you can learn on the equipment you'll be using at home.
Before attending, please ensure your machine is:
-
Clean and in good working order
-
Complete with its power lead, foot control and any accessories you'll need
-
Safe to use, with no visible damage to the plug, cable or machine
If you'd prefer not to bring your own machine, studio sewing machines are available for you to use during your lesson.

Why choose The Avid Seamstress
What Clients Are Saying
Ruth“Loved this kit, gorgeous fabric, interesting pattern and clear instructions”
Claire Cooper"The Blouse was a great project, with very detailed instructions, helpful photos, and useful sewing techniques. I have certainly learnt from this make, and the blouse turned out perfectly. I was so thrilled with the pattern that I made another, straight after completing the first! The option for 2 patterns in the pack was great, as my daughter has requested a blouse, and I really dislike tracing patterns! I added to the seam allowances so I could sew French Seams at the shoulders and sides, and reduced the seam allowance on the collar so that it was more of a feature, just my preference for the sew.
