Whether you're making your next handmade garment, quilting, patchworking, knitting, crocheting, finishing a long-forgotten project or simply looking for uninterrupted creative time, Makers' Social is your chance to slow down and enjoy making alongside fellow creatives.

Nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside, The Avid Seamstress Studio is a welcoming space where you can immerse yourself in your favourite craft, share ideas and enjoy the company of other makers. Whether you come on your own or with a friend, you'll always receive a warm welcome.

Designed as an informal, self-led creative session, Makers' Social gives you the time and space to focus on your own projects while enjoying the company of like-minded makers. It's the perfect opportunity to step away from everyday life, enjoy a change of scenery and spend a few hours doing what you love.

What to Bring

To help you make the most of your Makers' Social session, we recommend bringing everything you'll need for your chosen project so you can settle in and enjoy as much uninterrupted creative time as possible.

Please bring:

• Your project and all the materials you'll need

• Your sewing machine, overlocker or other equipment (if required)

• Any tools specific to your craft

• Lunch, or enjoy a visit to the wonderful Chettle Farm Shop nearby, where you can pick up breakfast, lunch, coffee or sweet treats during your visit.

Bringing Your Sewing Machine

You're very welcome to bring your own sewing machine or overlocker. Working on your own machine can help you build confidence using it at home after the workshop.

Before attending, please ensure your machine is:

• Clean and in good working order

• Complete with its power lead, foot control and any accessories you'll need

• Safe to use, with no visible damage to the plug, cable or machine

When you arrive, we'll carry out a quick visual check before your machine is plugged in. If we have any concerns about the safety or condition of your equipment, we may ask that it not be used during the session.

If you don't have a sewing machine or would prefer to travel light, studio sewing machines are available to hire for £5 per session (subject to availability). Please select this option when booking.

If you're unsure whether your machine is suitable, please get in touch before booking, and we'll be happy to help.

Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside with free on-site parking and the wonderful Chettle Farm Shop just a short stroll away - perfect for picking up snacks or lunch during your visit.

Good to Know

• Makers Social is an information, self-led creative session rather than a taught workshop.

• You're welcome to arrive and leave at any point between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

• Places are limited to just eight participants, giving everyone plenty of room to work comfortably.

• You're welcome to work on any creative textile project, from dressmaking and quilting to knitting, crochet and embroidery.
