The Studio Shirt & Dress Sewing Pattern - NEW

Two styles, one pattern. Make it an effortlessly relaxed shirt dress or a contemporary everyday shirt.

The Studio Shirt & Dress is designed with a statement collar, dropped shoulders and cuffed sleeves, creating a relaxed silhouette that feels modern, stylish and wonderfully easy to wear.

Make the Dress

Wear the dress loose for an easy, flowing silhouette or add the optional tie belt for a completely different look. Gently blouson the top over the belt to create shape and definition at the waist.

Choose between a softly curved or straight hem, with practical in-seam pockets included in the dress version.

Or Make the Shirt

Use the shirt pattern lines on the pattern sheet to create a relaxed contemporary shirt that looks just as good worn loose as it does tucked into trousers or skirts, or layered over other pieces.

The sleeves can be worn at three-quarter length with the cuffs on show or casually rolled up, giving you even more ways to make and style both versions.

Suggested Fabrics

The Studio Shirt & Dress is designed for woven fabrics.

Linen, cotton, poplin, lawn and shirting will give the garment a little more structure and beautifully showcase the statement collar and shape of the pattern.

For a softer, more fluid silhouette, choose a lightweight woven fabric with plenty of drape, such as viscose, Tencel or bamboo.

~ 1.2m lightweight iron-on interfacing
~ Seven 12mm buttons
~ Coordinating thread

Dress
~ 2m lightweight iron-on interfacing
~ Ten 12mm buttons
~ Coordinating thread

Button note: If using smaller or larger buttons, adjust the spacing between the buttons and buttonholes to suit your chosen button size.
